Help for the Amateur Radio Operator
This is a new website. I am starting the website with one article, but am planning on adding more as time allows. Ham radio today includes a variety of digital modes and computer tools. Configuring ham radio equipment and software can sometimes be difficult for the first-time user of these tools. The intent of this website is to provide helpful information on configuring and using some of the more popular ham radio tools available today.
DX Watchdog
GridTracker is a program that works with WSJT-X. Besides doing an excellent job displaying WSJT-X contacts on a global map, it also has a feature called Callable Roster. Callable Roster alerts you whenever there is a call that you do not already have confirmed. Callable Roster also has the ability to call a custom script written by the user whenever there is an alert.
DX Watchdog is a Python script that works in conjunction with GridTracker to send a text message to your phone whenever you get an alert. While the script is named DX Watchdog, it will send a text for any alert sent by GridTracker. So, it can be used for alerting you to contacts for other awards beside DXCC.
